Cheryl Hazan Contemporary Art is pleased to present Decade Ponds: Ten years of Nature Paintings by Bruce Tolman opening Thursday, November 17th and running through December 17, 2011. There will be a reception for the artist on Thursday November 17 from 6 – 8 pm.
For his tenth solo show at Cheryl Hazan Contemporary Art, Bruce Tolman takes us on his personal journey from his canvas to nature. He captures subtle color, texture, and poetic abstract movement from what is most near and dear to him, his studio, his home and his surroundings in rural upstate New York. Expressing his perception of nature, Bruce Tolman has made 19 paintings, each uncompromising in it's unique ability to layer his medium and delight by controlled composition. Each of Tolman’s works demands a modern view of ponds: pathos, complexity and simplicity emerge in his “Pondscapes”.
Tolman comments “the silent currents below the surface of the water distinguish ponds from all other bodies of water”.
